Microsoft recently issued an important reminder for PC and laptop users running Windows 11. They are urging everyone to update their Windows 11 operating system as soon as possible.
In a blog post last week, Microsoft announced that users have less than 90 days to upgrade their Windows 11 to the latest version. The current versions, Windows 11 21H2 (Enterprise and Education) and Windows 11 22H2 (Home and Pro), will no longer receive updates after October 8, 2024.
“October 8, 2024, marks the final day for official updates for Windows 11 versions 21H2 and 22H2,” Microsoft stated, from their blog on Monday, July 15, 2024.
This means that after this date, your PC will not receive the regular monthly security updates. To ensure your device stays protected, you need to upgrade to Windows 11 version 23H2 before October 8, 2024. This update is crucial for safeguarding your PC against various cyber threats that are rampant on the internet.
While you can still use Windows 11 versions 21H2 or 22H2 after the update deadline, be aware that Microsoft will no longer release security patches for these versions. This leaves your PC vulnerable to cyber attacks, viruses, and other security risks.
To update to Windows 11 version 23H2, go to “Settings” > “Windows Update” > and “Check updates.” If an update is available, your system will download and install it on your PC.
The Windows 11 23H2 update is now available for download, at least for users of the Home version of Windows 11.
Stay safe and ensure your system is up-to-date!
